Carl Winston Kemp
October 20, 1937 - February 9, 2018

Carl Winston Kemp Jr. passed peacefully in his sleep to be with our Lord and Savior on February 9, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Carl was born on October 20, 1937 to Carl Winston Kemp and Winnie Earline (Sturdy) Kemp. Carl was born in his Grandma and Grandpa Sturdy's house in Tioga, Texas. He played basketball in high school and graduated from Tioga High School in 1955. He was active in the FFA and showed dairy cows. He was on the judging team and took many awards. After graduation he attended at the University of North Texas in Denton. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, and father. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Mary Frances Kemp, his sister Carol Gray, his brothers Stanley Kemp and Rick Kemp, his children, Carl Winston Kemp III, Jack Kemp, Laura (Kemp) McLaren and Kurt Kemp, his step children Steve Huff, Michael Huff, Greg Huff and Pamela (Huff) Bomer and their spouses and his grandchildren Victoria McLaren, Alexandria Kemp, Georgana Huff-Brazeal, Jason Bomer, Sarah Garcia, Casey Huff, Josh Huff and Jamie Calabrese and their spouses and his many great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his nieces, nephews, and cousins and their families. Carl loved all of his children and their families. Carl worked many jobs while in high school and college. He began working for General Telephone Company in Sherman, Texas in 1961. He retired in 1988 as a Senior Engineer working on a multitude of projects and special circuits with GTE. After retirement he worked at the Sears Service Center as a technician. He returned to the telephone business as a contractor for Verizon in Irving, Texas after a few years retiring once again to San Angelo. Carl was good spirited, easy going and kind hearted. He is described by many friends and neighbors as a sweet man that never had an unkind word and was always pleasant to everyone. Carl was raised Church of Christ and a member of the Northside Church of Christ in San Angelo. He was a faithful man, quiet in his faith but unquestionably strong. He loved God and studied the Bible daily. Thanks to our brother Greg Huff for taking care of our Dad. Many thanks to Kindred Hospice, their staff Rae Denton, Gretal Evans, Tina Luna and Domingo Lopez for their compassion and care of Carl throughout his illness. Carl did not want flowers, in lieu flowers please donate to Kindred Hospice of San Angelo. A Visitation will be held at Harper Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2018. A funeral service will be held at Harper Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 14 with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
