James R. Hall
May 13, 1954 - February 9, 2018

Mr. James Hall, age 63, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 after a very short illness. He was born on May 13, 1954 to Clarence and Mabel (Swillum) Hall in Lansing, MI. Jim graduated from Sexton High School in 1972 and Ferris State University in 1976 with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. In 1986, Jim went on to graduate from Aquinas College with his Master's Degree. He worked as a security officer at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing. In 1994 Jim started working as a Regulation Agent for the Office of Inspector General, for which he received the Award of Excellence from the State of Michigan. On October 22, 1982, Jim married the former Margaret Bakale in Spring Lake. Jim was a devoted loving husband, father, and friend. He thought about others first and was always self-less. Jim loved spending time with his sons and made every effort to attend their various school activities and sporting events. He was a Den Leader and coached both boys in baseball. Jim liked to take his family camping at Young State Park and enjoyed the time they spent together. He also thoroughly enjoyed his dogs. Jim will be dearly missed by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Margo; sons, Richard (Janet Doolittle-Hall) and Joseph Hall and MacKenzie Howe; one grandson on the way, James Frank; and his pugs, Maggie and Mia and chihuahua, Squirt. He is also survived by his loving family: siblings, Sam Hall, Pat Hall, Tom (Lou Ann) Hall and Sue (Dale) Brisboe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ruth Hall, Richard (Mary) Bakale, and Jeanne (Roger Dye) Bakale; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mabel; brother, Mike Hall; sisters-in-law, Sue Hall and Jackie Hall; and parents-in-law, Joseph and Bertha Bakale. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 13 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church (406 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake) with Rev. Fr. Dave Gross presiding. Visitation with the family will be Monday, February 12 from 6-8 PM at The Spring Lake Chapel, 213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, (616) 842-6100 with the Rosary prayed at 7:15 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's memory may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
