CARL, RICHARD G.

SUN PRAIRE-Richard G. Carl, age 82, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at his home. He was born July 4, 1935, on a farm near Platteville to Arthur and Helen (Bierman) Carl. Richard grew up on the farm near Platteville and graduated from Platteville High School in the class of 1953. After high school, he attended UW-Madison where he met and married Ruth Nimmer, his wife of 60 years. Richard graduated with a BS and MS in Meat and Animal Science. After college, he was drafted into the US Army where he served 20 months at the Jungle Warfare Training Center in Panama. After the Army, he worked at Oscar Mayer in quality assurance in Davenport and Madison for over 28 years. Richard and Ruth retired in 1992 and spent their retirement years camping and traveling. Richard's hobbies included camping, woodworking, and raising Boxer dogs.

Richard is survived by his wife, Ruth, and brother, LeRay of Platteville. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at BRISTOL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6835 Co. Hwy. N, Sun Prairie, at 11:00 am on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, with Pastor Jen Johnson officiating. Military rites will take place after the service. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or another cancer fund of your choice.
