Arletta J. Debbaut
May 13, 1930 - February 5, 2018

Arletta J. (Gottsch) Debbaut passed away peacefully February 5, 2018, at Bethany Lutheran Home. A daughter of Alfred and Kathryn (Weller) Gottsch, she was born May 13, 1930, in Westside, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm south of Westside and attended a rural school near her home. Arletta was married to Maurice M. Debbaut, making their home in Council Bluffs. She was a retired employee of Northwestern Bell Phone Company and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Letty was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, in Council Bluffs. She was a lifelong learner, enjoyed her flower garden, nature, traveling, living by Lake Manawa, and cooking special dinners for her beloved family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice M. Debbaut; sister, Alice Buck; and brother, Arlo Gottsch. Arletta is survived by her two children, Marion (Debbie) Debbaut, and Michelle Mattas; two grandsons, Derek and Michael; as well as nieces and nephews. In honor of her wishes, a private service and burial was held Thursday. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Lutheran Home or the American Cancer Society.
