William "Bill" Hutcheson
December 31, 1930 - February 11, 2018

William "Bill" Arnold Hutcheson, 87, of Iowa City, passed away suddenly Sunday, February 11, 2018 at The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Military Honors performed by the Coralville American Legion. Bill was born on December 31, 1930 in Toledo, OH. He served in the Army during the Korean War, receiving a Purple Heart with 3 clusters and Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Camp Stars. Bill was united in marriage to Jacquelyn Oakes in Holly Springs, MS on October 10, 1953. He worked for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 30 years, 25 years as the warehouse foreman, retiring in 1984. Bill was a member of the DAV and received his name on the Veterans Trail in 1997. Bill was a Mr. Fix-It man, always found a way to fix anything. Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jackie; 3 children, Brenda Williams of Iowa City, Julie (Richard) Showalter of Palmer, AK, and William Hutcheson of Coralville; 3 grandchildren, William (Sydney) Showalter of Maryland, Jessica Showalter of Alaska, and Andrew (Amanda) Williams of California.
