John Richard Gilbert, age 48, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Friday, February 9, 2018.
John was born on October 22, 1969 in Orange, California. He is the son of Bill and Marilyn Rice of Knoxville.
On May 22, 1993 John was united in marriage to Terri Craig. To this union they had a daughter Victoria. John was a good handyman and always willing to help. Many friends and neighbors would call on him to help with various odds and ends. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He found great enjoyment in lifting weights.
John's survivors include his wife, Terri Gilbert; mother, Marilyn Rice; two daughters; Victoria Gilbert and Alanda Hofer (Kyle); and three grandchildren and one grandchild on the way. He is preceded in death by his step-father, Bill Rice; and grandparents, Karl and Sarah Overton.
A celebration of John's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Attica, Iowa.
