Arturo Rios, 89, was born on July 7, 1928 to Victor Rios and Irene Escochea in Goliad, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife: Minerva Rios; his parents: Victor and Irene E. Rios; a son: Victor M. Rios;a brother: Basilio Rios and a sister: Olivia Rivera; his step-father: Simon De Leon.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during World War II; also, he was a member and Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars post 2035 for many years and a Commander for the American Legion.
He is survived by his significant other: Belinda Chavez; his children: Maria E. Garza (Raul Garza+), Olivia Rubio, Arturo Rios (Janie Rios), Ofelia M. Rivera, Ricardo A. Rios (Ester Rios), Rosalinda Bowers (Eric Bowers), Miguel A. Rios, Adriana Hernandez (Jesus Hernandez), Step-children: Janet Rivera, Ralph Pardo, Judy Saldivar, Myrna Velasquez, Arnold Rodriguez (Nereyda Rodriguez), and Marcos Rodriguez; one brother: Rene De Leon; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin today Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Guerra Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens with funeral details conducted by the Mortuary Veterans Affairs.
