KALONA - Esther Leota (Beachy) Yoder was born August 17, 1930, to Jonas and Leah (Mast) Beachy in Hicksville, Ohio.
She was baptized upon her confession of faith in her youth. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and remained faithful until her death. Esther died on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the age of 87 years 5 month and 25 days. On September 6,1951 she was united in marriage to Ernest Monroe Yoder near Kalona and they lived in matrimony for 45 years. Ernest died of heart failure on February 28, 1997. She leaves to mourn, 6 Children; David (Mary) Yoder of Topeka, Indiana, Arlene (Elson) Ropp of Kalona, Iowa, Marilyn (Alvin) Kurtz of Albia, Iowa, Morris (Luella) Yoder of Hutchinson, Kansas, Ethel (Evan) Gingerich of Kalona, Iowa, Delmar (Dorothy) Yoder of Wellman, Iowa, a daughter-in-law Ginnie Yoder of Sugar Grove, Illinois, 28 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 55 step great grandchildren, 3 brothers; Lester Beachy of Des Moines, Iowa, John Henry Beachy of Riverside, Iowa, Howard Beachy of Lebanon, Oregon, and a sister Fannie Schrock of Burlington Junction, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest, son Mervin and a stillborn son, a sister, 2 brothers, 2 step grandchildren,3 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 AM Thursday, February 15, 2018, at the Elson Ropp residence at 2484 540th St. SW in rural Kalona. Bishop in charge is Perry Yoder. Burial will be in the East Union Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday and will continue all day on Wednesday at the Elson Ropp residence. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
