Colleen Patricia Beckett also known as Muggs or Muggins the Mouse lost her 7year battle with cancer and passed away at the age of 78 on February 7, 2018 at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colorado.

Colleen was born February 18, 1939 in Evanston, Illinois to Sonia and Albert Cappelen.  She was a 2nd generation American.  Her parents immigrated to America from Europe.  She graduated from Fenton High School in 1957 and then earned her bachelor and master's degree from Michigan State University in Psychology.  She was married to a Naval officer for 18 years.  She retired in 2016 from her career as a US Postal Service rural route carrier with 33+ years and earning the Million Miles Club award.  Colleen enjoyed many interests throughout her life.  She was a cat breeder, a Den Leader (cub scouts and webelos) and an avid union member.  Her passions were Christmas, antiques and carousels; gardening, food and baking; politics and history; horses, cats and chihuahuas; needle point, cross stitch and rug hooking; shopping, traveling and sightseeing; reading, movies and video games; museums and art; but most of all family.  She loved to collect Mickey Mouse items, light houses, turkeys, eagles, key chains and pins. To all that knew her, Colleen was a generous, courageous, strong willed, outspoken and loving mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend.

Survived by her son John Beckett, Jr; daughter Polly Beckett; son Tim Beckett; grandchildren Angelo Capolungo, Emily Beckett, Gerhardt Schwaderlapp, Joe Beckett, and Lorelie Schwaderlapp; brother Ted Cappelen; niece Kim Barnard and nephew Ted Cappelen, Jr..  She was proceeded in death by father Albert Cappelen 1982, brother Albert Cappelen, Jr. 1986, and mother Sonia Cappelen 2003.
