Shirley Shumate
July 4, 1920 - January 25, 2018

A memorial service will be held at The Fair Street Reformed Church Saturday March 17, at 1:00 PM.

Shirley Shumate, 97, formerly of Capstone Farms, Lamontville, New York, died at Tenbroeck Commons, Lake Katrine, NY, on Thursday January 25, 2018.

Born in Mount Vernon, NY July 4, 1920, she is the daughter of the late Gertrude (Larson) and Percival Clark.  Shirley Clark Shumate attended Cornell University with Nutrition and Child Education as her field of study.   She worked in human resources for The American Heart Association and The Countess Mara Manufacturing Co.

Shirley met her husband, Robert Chapin Shumate while working at John Robert Powers Modeling agency in New York City. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage prior to Robert's passing in 1999.

Among Mrs. Shumate's talents and passions were singing alto, most recently with the Kingston Community Singers, gardening, belonging to a few different gardening clubs, and traveling extensively both in the US and abroad, favorites included Hawaii, Japan, and Sweden.

Other passions included working on church activities, spending time with her family and friends, dancing, the color red, and chocolate ice cream!

Shirley (aka Mormor) will be greatly missed by survivors:: Children: Sallie S. Bollin and husband Oscar V. Bollin III,and Gaia S. Waxman; Grandchildren: Francine Ginger Waxman and TJ Morrigan, David Todd Waxman, Leanna Shumate Bollin and Benjamin Mojica, Dana Clark Bollin: Great grandchildren: Alaster Hawthorne Shelby, Winter Raye Shelby, Rebecca Mae Mojica-Bollin, Sophia Grace Mojica-Bollin.
