James F. Coady
October 14, 1926 - March 7, 2011

James Francis Coady was born October 14, 1926 in Algona, son of James A. and Pauline (Bode) Coady. He attended country school through the 8th grade near St. Benedict and then helped on the family farm. Later, the family relocated to a farm near Burt.

Jim served in the Army during WWII being stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Rustemier on June 7, 1950. They lived on the family farm near Burt farming with his father until his death in 1963. He continued to farm until retiring in 1997. Jim and Mary Ann moved into Bancroft in 1981.

On June 16, 2010, Jim proudly went to Washington DC on the Honor Flight. He was escorted by his son Mark and he was also met there by his sons Bob, Mike, and Jerry to accompany him to the WWII Memorial. He enjoyed farming, fishing, golfing, and making rosaries for his family and friends. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim was a member of the Lone Rock Elevator Board for nine years, a 4-H leader for 6 years, a lifetime member of the Bancroft American Legion, a lifetime member of the Bancroft Historical Society, and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also an active member of St. John's Catholic Church serving on the parish council for many years. James F. Coady died Monday, March 7, 2011 at the age of 84.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Coady of Bancroft; six children, Bob Coady and his wife Joan of Des Moines, Arlene Bast and her husband BJ of McFarland, WI, Cheryl Baas and her husband Dale of Algona, Mike Coady and his wife Lorna of Fairmont, MN, Mark Coady of Primghar, and Jerry Coady and his wife Gina of Parker, CO; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Fr. John Coady of Tucson, AZ; three sisters, Ann (Mel) Haag of Ledyard, Mary (Bob) Koll of San Diego, CA, and Betty (Ron) Hamm of Bondurant; his in-laws, Dennis (Claire) Rustemier of Buffalo Center, Paul (Janet) Rustemier of Houston, TX, Bob Savage of Fort Dodge, and Jean (Dennis) Konvalinka of Fort Dodge; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Don Thornton and John Rustemier; and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Savage and Rita Rustemier.
