"I've known Al for some 20 years, his son Ron being one of my best friends. He was always a class act and just one of the finest guys I've ever known. Remembering also his contribution during world War II. Those guys saved the world, and their memories will forever be enshrined among the true heroes of our civilization. Ron Foster"

"My deepest sympathy to Al's family. He was my father's cousin, and I have only gotten to know him over the last couple years, but I sure did admire him. He will be missed by so many. "

"Dear Maurine and family, Your family and the Hampton community lost one of the good guys this week. I have such fond memories working with Al at the ISU Extension Office in Franklin County. I can't imagine what he thought when two new grads got hired and started work on the same day in July 1971. He was always easy going and allowed us to become skilled professionals, with some good advice along the way. With his love of agronomy and agriculture, I'm sure he has already found a lawn to mow or one that needs just the right fertilizer mix in Heaven. Sending my hugs and prayers to you. Sue McDonnell"
