Resi "Hilde" Petersen
February 27, 1930 - February 22, 2018

Resi Hildegard Petersen, 87, of Clinton, Iowa died peacefully in her sleep with family by her side on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Alden Courts of Waterford, Aurora, Illinois. A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM Monday, February 26, 2018 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will also be held Monday at the funeral home from 11AM until the service hour. Burial will be at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery directly following the Memorial. Pallbearers will be John Petersen, Jim Petersen, Ayhan Alsirt, Steven Shadduck, Connor Petersen, and Tyler Petersen.

Known by friends and family as "Hilde", Resi Hildegard Pahl, was born on February 27, 1930 in Clinton Iowa to Max and Anna (Franzen) Pahl of Germany. She was a 1948 Clinton High School graduate and a 1952 graduate of the University of Iowa. Resi married Ernest A. Petersen on September 4, 1953 in Las Vegas; he died June 24, 1999.
Early in her marriage, Resi had been employed as a High School Spanish teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada and Mt. Home, Idaho. After returning to Clinton, IA to raise her family, she worked at Jane Lamb and then Mercy Hospital in insurance and billing.
Resi was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Atonement for many years, and later became a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Beta Sigma Phi sororities.

Survivors include her three children; John M. (Terrie Weller Camp) Petersen of Bryant, Iowa, Julia (Ayhan) Alsirt of Aurora, Illinois and James L. Petersen of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren, Bree Johnson, Kerri Petersen, Steven Shadduck, Laura Shadduck, Connor Petersen, Tyler Petersen and Tiffany Petersen and great-granddaughter, Thea Tomasello.
In addition to her husband, Resi was preceded in death by her parents.
The family has requested that In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Clinton Public Library.
