Barbara A. Prusha, 95, of Marshalltown, IA, died Sunday, February 25, 2018, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at St. Henry's Church, 211 W Olive Street, Marshalltown. A visitation will be 9:30 a.m., until the time of the services, at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Henry Catholic Church and the Iowa Veterans Home in Barbara's name. Barbara was born on September 28, 1922, in Britt, IA, to Anton and Julia (Zeman) Parizek. She graduated from Chelsea High School in 1940. Barbara was employed by Montgomery Ward and Hoffman Jewelry in Marshalltown before entering the U.S. Navy in January of 1943. She was stationed on Ward Island in Corpus Christie, TX. Following her discharge from the Navy, Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Robert "Bob" Prusha, on October 24, 1945, at St. Mary's Church. They made their home in Marshalltown. She was a Home Health Aid for several years and volunteered at Grandview Heights Nursing Home where she served on the Care Review Board and was elected to the Iowa State Care Review Board. Barbara and Bob moved to The Embers in 2004 and after his death in 2008, she continued to live there before moving to the Iowa Veterans Home in February of 2016. Barbara was a charter member of St. Henry's Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the National Catholic Order of Foresters, and the American Legion.

Surviving Barbara are her children, Patty (Denny) Severson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jan (Doug) Penney of Credit River Township, MN, and Mike (Theresa) Prusha of Lakeville, MN; her grandchildren, Stacy (Ben) Doren, Matt Severson, Melinda Bru, Andrew (Janelle) Prusha, and Emily Prusha; her great-grandchildren, Josie and Max Doren, Peyton Earle, Chris Bru, and Harper Prusha. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ann Tichy, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, two brothers, Melvin and Paul Parizek, and a sister, Virginia Werner.

Barbara's family would like to thank the priests and lay ministers of St. Mary's and St. Henry's for their frequent visits to bring her Communion. A special thanks to the staff of the Iowa Veterans Home, especially to everyone who touched her life on the 2nd Floor of the Dack Building. The family offers a heartfelt thank you for your respectful, loving care of Barbara.
