"Mr Ben was my neighbor for many years. A sweet gentle man he was. Once I got him to quit calling me Miss Skank he then called me pretty girl. He called my daughter Kate pretty girls as well. She adored him as did I. We would sit out at night on the picnic table and talk. After he moved we would stop to see him. On occasion he would stop down at my place beer in hand he always ask if we could just visit for awhile. He shared his time in Vietnam and the effects it had on the men that served .He cried many times over those talks we had. He would always remind me to be kind, if you can do nothing else in this world be kind. Forgiveness was also something he taught me about. It was part of his gentle kind self. Rest easy Ben."

"We will love and miss you always, Papa Bear! My son's favorite memory was grabbing on to your beard and you just let him. And you had a unique wave. This is not goodbye, this is "later." Thanks for everything you have done for me and my family. Jason loved you like a dad and Slade as a grandpa! RIP Papa Bear! Go run with the wolves. Your pain is over now. "
