Willie Mae Townes was born November 15, 1936 to Willie Gregg and Annie Mae Gregg in Bennettsville, South Carolina.
The family moved to Leonia, NJ where she attended and graduated from the Leonia School system. She met and married David Matthews which produced two daughters Nadine and Mina. Later in life she married Wilbert Townes which produced a daughter and a son, Renee and Junior.
She was a long time member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. She lived in Lauderhill, Florida for 25 years. She relocated from Teaneck when she retired from Prentice Hall after 22 years' service working as an Order Processer.
She is survived by her children Nadine Townes, Mina Martin, Renee Matthews, Junior Townes and her sisters Connie Campbell and Clara Graham. Her Grandchildren are NeShelle, Bryan, Ashley, Jay, Douglas, David, Christopher, Jasmine, Jaylan and her great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Willie and Annie Mae Gregg and her brother Willie A. Gregg.
