Gertrude M. Cluney, 54, of Burlington, died 8:45 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2018 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 7, 1963 in Alexandria, Virginia, she was the daughter of Jesse Owens and Charlene (Boulanger) Branson.
She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and a caretaker for many years. She loved her grandkids, spending holidays with her family, loved listening to music and enjoyed life.
Survivors include her mother, Charlene Branson of Maryland; two children; Christina Weir of Fort Madison and Daniel Lee (Megan) Cluney of Burlington; daughter-in-law, Carrie Reusch of Burlington; 13 grandchildren; Jordan, Gregory III, Paige, Cashmere, Davinity, Xavier, Johna, Davina, Shalynn, Tommy, Spencer, Rilynne, Cierra; four brothers, Rick Owens of Illinois and Roy Owens, Jesse Owens Jr. and Tim Owens all of Wisconsin; one sister, Josette DeMarco of Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her father, two sons, Greg Cluney Jr. and John Weir and one sister Carolyn Owens.
There will be no formal funeral services. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
