In loving memory of

Randel Leslie Bailey
October 27, 1946 - February 16, 2018

RANDEL (RANDY) LESLIE BAILEY, while vacationing in Indialantic, Florida, joined his Father in Heaven after a brief illness, on February 16, 2018. He was 71. Born October 27, 1946 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Leslie Dodge "Tim" Bailey and Shirley LaRue Williams Bailey. He was a graduate of Danville High School Class of '64 and the University of Iowa, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Languages. On December 3, 1972 he married Alexandra Francis Clair of Winchester, Massachusetts, in Naples, Florida. The couple had three children; Christine Samantha, Benjamin Rain, and John Alexander. In 1998 he married Avis Emerson of Camden Point, Missouri.
He attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa where he was certified to teach K-12 and Special Education. He then pursued a 35-year career with ServiceMaster / Aramark where he served as Director of Facilities Management for several hospitals in Iowa and Missouri including the University of Kansas Medical School/Hospital and Park University. After retirement from Aramark, he returned to work in Special Education classrooms in the Blue Valley School District in Overland Park, KS and the New London School District in Iowa working with students with autism.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Bailey of New London, Iowa; three children, Christine (Jeff) Kline of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Ben (Holly) Bailey of Overland Park, Kansas, and John Bailey of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren; two brothers, Kevin (Gail) Bailey and Ridge (Ghada) Bailey of New London, Iowa, and two sisters, Susan (Timothy) Rinn of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Dinah Bailey of Winfield, Iowa.
After 2012 Mr. Bailey devoted much time to travel, visiting Africa, Europe, South America, and the Caribbean. He enjoyed composing music throughout his adult life and wrote the songs performed in "The Bailey Translations", a CD that was released in the summer of 2017.
Randy wanted a celebration where friends and family could gather and tell stories in a "classy" place that served good food. We invite you to join us at one of the following celebrations of life. Please, come as you are and don't wear black.

Randy supported a young child, Milex Thesalus, on a monthly basis and donations in Randy's honor would further these efforts. Mission To Haiti has served in Haiti since 1981 and equips young people so they can change Haiti for Christ through Christian education, vocational training, meals at school, and healthcare through its clinic and partnering hospital. Mission to Haiti is currently aiding 4,000 children and their families. Please visit www.missiontohaiti.org/donation or mail your donation to Mission To Haiti, PO Box 523157, Miami, FL 33152. Please note that your gift is for Milex Thesalus GAN2729 in memory of Randy Bailey.
