Lawrence "Larry" Charles Swore
February 10, 1921 - March 3, 2018

Lawrence "Larry" Charles Swore, 97, of Danville, died on Saturday morning March 3, 2018 at Danville Care Center.
Born February 10, 1921 in Casper, Wyoming he was the son of Walter and Lida (Kelley) Swore. He married Helen Price on March 7, 1946 in Burlington and they would have celebrated their 72nd anniversary this week.
Larry served in the Navy during WWII on LCT's and LST's traveling all over the world with the military. He worked as a truck driver for Churchill Trucklines, retiring at the age of 57.
He became a member of Danville First Baptist Church after accepting Jesus Christ as his savior along with his wife Helen, on Palm Sunday in 2014.
Larry loved country music and taught himself to play piano, guitar and harmonica. During his life Larry received awards for his penmanship and was an established artist. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed watching many sports including NASCAR. He loved playing pool and ping pong with his family and friends. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor and was a wonderful brother, husband, father and grandfather. After retiring Larry began playing golf and spent many long hours golfing and even achieved a hole-in-one. In addition, he and Helen spent many hours traveling and attending various sporting events for their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Swore; three children, Donna (Larry) Beck, Danville, Linda (Roger) Lundgren, Milan, IL and Mike (Vicki) Swore, Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Dr. Eric (Charla) Lundgren, Bettendorf, Christine (Greg) Beierlein, Rock Island, IL, Brett Sutcliffe, Burlington, Lonetta (Jason) Jackson, Danville, Susan Swore and Sarah (Nathan) Watson, Burlington; four step grandchildren, Lance (Angel) Beck, Burlington, Dr. Rob (Beth) Gantz, Marshalltown, Sarah (Marc) Cross, Ely, IA and Mindy (Erick) Amstuz, Palo, IA; 16 great grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Hight, Madrid, IA and Edna Metcalf, Macon, MO; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter in infancy, Judith Irene, one step granddaughter, Audra Mills, three brothers and seven sisters.
The funeral service for Mr. Swore will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7th at Danville First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. The Rev. Jack Edmisson will officiate. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Danville First Baptist Church and Great River Hospice.
