Evelyn Nereson
July 6, 1923 - March 4, 2018

Evelyn Nereson, 94, of Rochester, MN passed on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Cottagewood Senior Communities surrounded by family.
Evelyn Irene Korf was born July 6, 1923 to Herman and Elizabeth (Reller) Korf in Osakis, MN. On November 6, 1943 she married Wilmar Hilllman Nereson (Bill). Wilmar died in 1993, they had been married almost 50 years.
Evelyn was a long-time member of Zumbro Lutheran Church. She supported the annual Christmas bazaar with her donation of Krumkake and Rosettes. She volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scouts leader. Evelyn loved going to Lake Winnibigosh and the Mississippi River to picnic and fish with her family. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, flower gardening, birdwatching, cribbage, 500, baking and time with her Ladies Birthday Club. Evie's endless kindness, generosity and wonder of the world nourished her family and everyone lucky enough to know her.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Roxanne) Nereson of Fergus Falls, MN, Phil (Dorothy) Nereson of Minneapolis MN, Sharon (Larry) Lusk of FL, Pamela (Joe) Guzinski of Rochester, MN, Renee (Randall) Meyer of Herbster, WI and Brenda Nereson of Minneapolis, MN; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six sisters; and three brothers.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Cottagewood and St. Croix Hospice for their care in Evelyn's final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Zumbro Lutheran Church (624 3rd Avenue SW). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Lunch on Evie! Inurnment will take place at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Zumbro Lutheran Church or the Friends of the Mississippi River (fmr.org).
