Weslaco- Sidney Wade Underhill, 69, passed away Sunday, March 4th, 2018 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. Sid was born December 8th, 1948 to Preston and Genevieve Underhill in Abilene, Texas. Sid and his brother, Robert, grew up in Denver City, Texas where he graduated high school.
After high school Sid joined the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. After being honorably discharged, Sid returned to Denver City, Texas where tried his hand in the oil field and in a tire shop, owned by his brother, but ended up back to his first love, which was farming. He and his dad, Preston , worked the family farm in Higginbotham Texas for many years and after his dad's death Sid carried on his beloved tradition. The farm grew peanuts, alfalfa hay and cotton and Sid worked very hard to support his family.
When Sid was not farming, his favorite pastime was golfing with his buddies. His dry sense of humor and being hard to read made him quite the contender when playing cards at the Lovington Country Club with his friends. When he wasn't working, golfing or playing cards you could find him two stepping or waltzing to good ole fashion country music. He really loved to dance and was quite good at it.
Sid is preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Genevieve Underhill.
He is survived by his children, Kristi Ebe (Gregory) of Weslaco, TX, Shana Keeton(Lyle) of Wolfforth, TX, Heather Lopez of Artesia, NM, and Derrik Underhill of Plano, TX, step-daughter, Rachel Minor (John) of Seminole, TX, brother, Robert Fleming (Betty) of Lubbock, TX, grandchildren, Breya, Brynn, Callen, and Deacon Ebe, Jacob, Nikki, and Cole Keeton, Justin, Kristen, and Karlee Lopez, and great-grandchild, Nolan Lopez.
