Harold E. Woods
May 22, 1921 - March 6, 2018

SIGOURNEY-Harold E. Woods, age 96, of Sigourney, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Lutheran Living in Muscatine.
Harold was born May 22, 1921, in Plank Township, Keokuk County, Iowa, to Harley and Violet (Miller) Woods and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1940. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was in the South Pacific for 26 months. On September 6, 1947, he married Dorothe (Baker) Farmer in Sigourney. Harold worked in the petroleum industry for 20 years then became the Superintendent of Water and Waste for the city of Sigourney for 23 years. He was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, the Keokuk County Historical Society, where he served as president for 10 years and the Lacey Kerr V.F.W. Post #2308. He enjoyed his family, helping others and gardening.
Survivors include four sons: Don (Pauline) Woods of Parker, Colorado, Jon Woods, Hal (Barbara) Woods and Bob (Linda) Woods, all of Muscatine; two daughters: Jan Woods Conner (Dan) of Muscatine and Kay Woods Ruggiero (Vincent) of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother: Forrest (Linda) Woods of Pulaski; sister: Delores (Red) Hermanstorfer of Cedar Rapids and sister-in-law: Shirley Woods of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Dorothe; great granddaughter: Faith Woods; three sisters: Lucy (Everett) Fox, Mary (Gerald) Dawson and Hazel (Harold) Bird and four brothers: Cecil in infancy, Bob (Kathleen) Woods, Cliff (RoseMary)Woods and Ed Woods.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Sigourney United Methodist Church, with Rev. Shannon Pascual officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney, with military rites by American Legion Post #19 and Lacey Kerr V.F.W. Post #2308. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney.
