Betty Jane Scofield, 93, passed away March 4, 2018 in Knoxville from complications associated with Alzheimer's.
She was born April 15, 1924, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Edgar and Phoebe (Jane) Grayson. She attended Shortridge High, St. Vincent Nursing School, and Butler University. At Butler, she met and later married her beloved husband David C. Scofield on September 23, 1945.
Betty had a great smile and loved to laugh. She enjoyed lakes, gardens, reading, movies and spending time with her family. Music was her passion. She knew the titles and lyrics to most 40's Big Band songs and Broadway musicals.
She loved and cared for her five children: Lana Anderson (Al, deceased) Indianapolis, Carol Hughes (Ned) San Francisco; Patricia Scofield (Craig Williamson) Knoxville; Keith Scofield (deceased), and Paul Scofield (Felicia)Evansville; grandchildren (Rachel, Monica, Michael, and Luke Scofield), Marla Walker, Lecia Laymeyer and step-grandchildren Taylor and McKinley Williamson.
A visitation at noon and funeral service at 1:00 will be held March 10 at Crown Hill Cemetery in the Gothic Chapel. Burial will follow the funeral.
