Verona, WI: John James "Jay" Witzig III, age 65, passed away Sunday March 4, 2018 following a heart attack. He was born September 24th, 1952 in Detroit, MI, the son of John and Patricia Witzig. Jay received his undergraduate degree from Albion College, and later received his JD in Law from Washington and Lee College. Jay married Pamela F. Rogers in 1982.

Jay was an avid follower of history, especially World War II and studied the life and legacy of Winston Churchill extensively. He was an honest and straightforward man and instilled his values of hard work and honesty on his son, David. Jay also spent years researching his family history and published a book for his family that will forever be cherished.

Jay's father, John James Witzig Jr predeceased him in 1974. Jay is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pamela Rogers Witzig, his son, David E. Witzig, mother Patricia Ott, sister Susan Rugenstein, and a brother David R. Witzig.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Cress Funeral Home, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI 53705. Family will greet guests from 10:00 am until the time of service.
