Alice Mae Austin
October 8, 1938 - March 11, 2018

Alice Mae Austin, the daughter of Clarence and Anna (Skilbred) Hanna, was born October 8, 1938 in Forest City. Alice grew up in rural Woden and graduated from Woden High School.
After graduating from Woden, She furthered her education and became a beautician. She worked as Dietary Supervisor and a beautician for the Heritage Nursing Home in Bancroft for 25 years.

Alice was united in marriage to Marvin Austin on January 3, 1959 in Crystal Lake. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies of Mission, Texas where they were Winter Texans for 11 years. Alice enjoyed playing golf, cooking, going to garage sales, playing 500, flowers, anything to do with apples and it showed in her home décor, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Alice Mae Austin, 79, of Lakota, died Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Alice is survived by her husband, Marvin, of Lakota; three children, Paul Austin of Forest City, Penny (John) Stelter of Lakota, and Patty (Jerome) Leesch of Lakota; seven grandchildren, Daniel (Jennifer) Austin, Lance Austin (fiancé Cheyenne Studer), Dana Stelter (Special friend Daniel Connors), Katie Stelter, Kayla Stelter, Allyson Leesch, and Logan Leesch; two great-grandchildren, Alex Austin and Aiden Austin; cousin, Barb (Danny) Engels, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carroll Hanna and Garry Hanna; sister, June Thompson; and brother-in-law Charles Austin.
