"Bernard might as well have been my second dad as much time as I spent at his house. So many wonderful memories. If I didn't spend the night, I was there for breakfast in the morning! I haven't forgotten Velma and Bernard and never will. Much love to you all...Brenda Baer"

"I have so many good memories of spending childhood days at Bernard and Velma's home. They always welcomed me for any meal and I especially loved the chocolate and biscuits! When Bernard spoke, we all listened for sure. Great memories!"

"It's a lonely feeling when the second parent passes away, even when you have siblings. We've been thinking of you and praying for you. One of my favorite memories is when we all drove down to Tennessee for Spring Break; I can't remember the year, 75-79. Love and Hugs, Cindy Ferrell"

"Uncle Bernard and Aunt Velma were so generous of spirit and always willing to help others. We always knew we had a place to stay when we went to Anderson or thru Anderson on our way to Tennessee. They gave this generous loving spirit to their children. We all love them so. One of my memories of Uncle Bernard was him taking us to White Castle and going thru the drive thru and ordering something like 48 hamburgers and french fries. We all laughed and laughed. Love you Uncle Bernard. You are with Velma now. RIP"
