Calvin Jay Brink
July 3, 1950 - March 20, 2018

Calvin Jay Brink, age 67 of Mitchellville, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will greet friends following the service at a coffee time at the Santiago United Methodist Church. The son of Clarence and Evadean (TenKley) Brink, Cal was born on July 3, 1950, in Sheldon, Iowa. He graduated from Sheldon High School. On May 28, 1977, he was united in marriage to Linda Jennings at the Santiago United Methodist Church. He worked for 20 years with U.P.S. and retired as a corrections officer after 14 years, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed target shooting, music, gardening, and was a car enthusiast. His greatest joy, however, came from the time spent with his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda; children, Kelly (Kelly) Morse, Deanne (Andy) Vespestad, Kim (Brian) Burgett, and Kylie (Jason) Johnstad; 11 grandchildren, Drew, Erin, Taylor (John Rieck), Brooklynn (Hansen Vermie), Alyssa, Justin, Brayden, Jordyn, Evan, Lillian and Owen and one great granddaughter, Evelyn. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Ray (Dorothy) Brink, Karen (Derek) Vander Schaaf, Rod (Bonnie) Brink and Donna Harmison. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael J. Brink and his brother-in-law and best friend, Jerry Harmison
