Danny Reed Anderson

Dan Anderson, 71, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
He was born in Atlantic, Iowa, October 13, 1946, to Reed and Evangeline "Bonnie" (Freilinger) Anderson. Dan graduated from the Anita High School in 1965. In November of 1965, he enlisted in the Iowa Army National Guard and served with the National Guard for six years.
Dan married Carol Ann Fusselman on September 24, 1966, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anita, Iowa. He had been a resident of the Atlantic area most of his life. Dan worked as a water plant operator for the Atlantic Municipal Utilities for 25 years.
He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and had been a fireman for the Atlantic Fire Department for 25 years.
Dan enjoyed golf, woodworking, grilling and cooking. He loved to travel, visit with people and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, which he thought the world of. Dan never met a stranger and would spend hours taking time and talking to friends. He was a longtime fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa Hawkeyes and rooted for the Cyclones as well, and would spend time watching them.
Dan will be remembered as a loving husband, an extraordinary father, an adored grandpa, and a friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother/father-in-law, Genevieve and Glen Fusselman; a son-in-law, Kreg Sailer; a nephew, Mike Opbroek; and two brothers-in-law, Roger Fusselman and Dale Fusselman.
Dan is survived by his wife, Carol Anderson of Atlantic, IA; a daughter, Jill Sailer of West Des Moines, IA; a son, Jason (Lori) Anderson of Atlantic, IA; three grandchildren, Jakob, Elizabeth and Nicholas Anderson of Atlantic, IA; a sister, Charlotte (Bob) Bancroft of Atlantic, IA; two brothers, David Anderson of Atlantic, IA and Dennis (Peggy) Anderson of Audubon, IA; brothers/sisters-in-law, Jolene (Dave) Krogh of Atlantic, IA, Craig (Susie) Fusselman of Marne, IA, Nancy Fusselman of Urbandale, IA and Laura Fusselman of Louisville, NE; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with family will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2018, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa. Burial will be in the Southlawn Memory Gardens in Atlantic, IA, at a later date.
