Duane Roy Rossmann
April 26, 1935 - March 20, 2018

Duane Roy Rossmann, 82, of Ames, formerly of Otho, passed away on March 20, 2018, at Ames Israel Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 26, 1935, In Moline IL to Roy Albert Rossmann and Phyllis Marie (Embree) Rossmann. He graduated from West Liberty High School in 1953 and Iowa Central Community College in 1979. He was united in marriage to Carol Jean Kruse on August 1, 1954.

In retirement, Duane and Carol spent time together traveling in their RV. Fifteen winters were spent in South Texas where new friendships were created and many new adventures sought; woodcarving, playing Santa, making hundreds of "dirty boards" and playing this game for many hours with friends and family. Their greatest adventure was driving to Alaska in their pick-up with travel trailer.

Duane is survived by his wife Carol; children, Colette (Scott) Lothe, of Marshalltown, IA; Carlotta (Bill) Helton, of Lone Rock, IA; and Darin (Diana) Rossmann, of Waukee, IA; grandchildren, Brandon (Janice) Helton, Ellie and Mitchell Rossmann, and Christopher, Daniel and Andy Lothe; step granddaughter Melanie (Alexander) Helton-Schmid; great grandchildren, Caleb, Skylar, and Apryll Helton; and step-great granddaughter Sarah Helton-Schmid. He is also survived by his brother Richard Rossmann; brothers-in-law, Russell and Jerry Kruse and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, brother Jerry Rossmann, sisters, Betty Rossmann and Joyce Parizek, brothers-in-law, Gilbert Parizek, Kenny and Terry Kruse; sisters-in-law, Darlene Rossmann and Doris Kruse; and grandson Charles Roy Helton.

A Celebration of Duane's Life will be held on Monday, May 28, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Otho Community Rec Center. Cards may be sent to 3300 G.W. Carver Ave., Apt. 109, Ames, Iowa 50010. Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
