Rev. William (Bill) Kroon, 94, of Mason City, formerly of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Bill was born on June 25, 1923, in Sioux Center, Iowa, to Henry D. Kroon and Hattie Van Roekel.  He graduated from Sioux Center High School.  He continued his education by attending and graduating from Northwestern Jr. Academy, Central College as well as Western Theological Seminary. He was ordained as a minister in the Reformed Church in America in 1949, and served churches in Cazenovia, MI; Lester, IA; Titonka, IA; Aplington, IA; Edgerton, MN; and Belmond, IA.

Bill was united in marriage to Marge Baker on June 16, 1949, in Sioux Center, Iowa.  To this union, four children were born.

Bill was a lifelong member and minister of the Reformed Church in America.  He had a passion for ministering to everyone. Bill lived his life faithful to his calling, loving God and his neighbor, and touching the lives of many people in the congregations he served during his years in ministry.

Bill enjoyed reading the newspaper, watching birds and paying attention to the weather.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed listening to music, attending concerts and singing. Most of all, Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was always delighted to spend time with people he loved.  Bill had a charming sense of humor and was a loving, gentle and compassionate man, who loved being a pastor, loved his family, and loved people of all walks of life.

Bill is survived by his son Dale (Laurie Diemer) Kroon of Clear Lake, daughter Linda (Jane Stewart) Kroon of Iowa City, sister Arlone (Wilbur) Vos of Sioux Center, sister Clarene Kroon of Sioux Center, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Bill's family is grateful to the staff at Mercy Hospital and Hospice of North Iowa for their compassionate care in Bill's final days, and to the many people who have kept Bill and us in their prayers.
