Quinten Henry Miller
April 30, 1929 - April 4, 2018

KALONA - Quinten Henry Miller was born April 30, 1929, in rural Kalona, Iowa, the son of Henry H. and Mary Pearl (Gingerich) Miller. He graduated from Hesston Academy. Quinten served in voluntary service, where he was assigned to Hesston College for 9 months and 4 months at Ten Thousand Villages in Akron, PA. On October 15, 1953, Quinten was united in marriage to Dolores Jean Miller at the East Union Mennonite Church. Quinten was a carpenter and worked at Kalona Builders for 38 years. He was a member of the Kalona Mennonite Church, where he taught Sunday School and was Superintendent, he served as the leader of the Torch Bearers for many years. He was active in the Mennonite Disaster Service and volunteered at the MCC sale for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, and made many pieces of furniture for his family. Quinten passed away at his home in rural Kalona on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the age of 88 years.

Quinten is survived by his wife Dolores of Kalona; 4 children: Mary Jo (Paul) Long of Clinton, MS; Myrna Jane (Dirk) Miller of Lititz, PA; Sharla (Tom) Zasadny of Walker, IA; and Forrest (Nora) Miller of Newton, KS.; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grand children; and a brother: Paul L. (Laura) Miller of Kalona. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son George Miller, a grandson Avery Miller and 2 brothers Monroe Miller and Daniel Miller.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am April 7, 2018 at the Kalona Mennonite Church. Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-8 pm, the family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Yoder- Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Hesston College.
