Elva Mast
November 10, 1935 - April 5, 2018

KALONA - Elva Magdalene Mast was born November 10, 1935 near Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel and Catherine (Gingerich) Miller. On February 8, 1956 Elva was united in marriage to Andrew E. Mast at the Sharon Bethel Church in rural Kalona. They lived in the Kalona, Keota and Wellman communities where Elva was a homemaker. She was a member of the Salem Mennonite Fellowship. Elva enjoyed painting, flowers, birds and loved music. Elva died on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 82 years.
Elva is survived by a son John (Sandy) Mast of Kalona; three daughters: Glenda (Gerald) Luce of Leon, Pauline (Vernon) Chupp of Cooper, Texas, and Keturah (Ray) Delehoy of Partridge, Kansas; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother Calvin J. Miller of Lott, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Andrew; two sons; Daniel and Nathan Mast; two sisters; Mary Elizabeth Yoder, infant Esther Miller; and two brothers; Edward and Clarence Miller.


Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Fairview Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Burial will be in the North Gingerich Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Monday April 9, 2018, at the Fairview Mennonite Church. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
