Barbara Jean Carmichael
February 4, 1929 - April 4, 2018

Barbara Jean Carmichael, 89, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 4, 2018, at I. U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Monday, February 4, 1929, in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of Halford Pierre and Louvia Mariah (Thompson) Jordan.
Jean graduated from Cowan High School in 1947.
She was a farm wife and homemaker. She loved her family and farm life and enjoyed having her family near her.
Jean was a Red Cross Clinic Volunteer for the Liberty-Perry School Corporation for twenty-five years. She also was a member of the Econo-Mrs. Home Economics Club, past president of the Delaware County Extension Homemakers, and loved playing Bingo and painting oil paintings.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Jana S. (Bobby) Adams; sons, Joseph A. (Judi) Carmichael and James R. (Jennifer) Carmichael; sister, Patricia L. (David) Preacher; Grandchildren, Erin (Adams) Willard, Kevin Adams, Wes Adams, Jodie (Carmichael) Pyle, Julie (Carmichael) Nelson, Janelle (Carmichael) Schnake, and Zachary Carmichael, twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert O. Carmichael; sister, Elizabeth Shepherd; brothers, Robert and Joseph Jordan.
Services will be Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Jim Ballenger officiating.
Visitation will be at Elm Ridge Funeral Home Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
Burial will immediately follow the service at Elm Ridge Memorial Park
