Rosemary Wegter
September 5, 1927 - April 9, 2018

Rosemary Wegter, of Antigo, died Monday, April 9, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 90 years old. She was born on September 5, 1927, in Antigo, a daughter of the late John and Antonia (Jira) Novak. She married Folkert. Wegter on May 15, 1954, at St. Matthew Lutheran, Deerbrook. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2006.

She was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1945. Mrs. Wegter was a legal secretary for McHale and Goodnaugh Law Firm in Antigo until 1951. She was a secretary for Mr. Diercks at Fidelity Bank in Antigo until 1954. She was a homemaker when her children were young and returned to work in 1969 for Attorney Richard Olk until retirement in 1989. She also worked on the family dairy farm until they sold the cows in 1989.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Deerbrook and the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Langlade County Senior Citizens Club, the Lutherans Women's Missionary League (LWML) and was a 50 year member of Freibel Women's Club.

She enjoyed reading, needle work, sewing, gardening, crossword puzzles and board games. She also enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and volunteering at Eastview Nursing Home for the Wednesday morning worship services.

She looked forward to Sundays and Mondays playing cards and BINGO with her friends. She was a devoted Milwaukee Brewers fan.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lynn Samppala of Oak Creek; two sons, Jim Wegter of Antigo and Dave (Cheryl) Wegter of Green Bay; five grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Bryan, Justen and Aaron; a sister, Bessie (Earl) Steger of Antigo; and two brothers, Anton (Lillian) Novak of Deerbrook and Joseph (Eva) Novak of Clintonville. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, John (Rose Marie) Novak and Milo (Laurel) Novak; and sister-in-law, Grace (Everette) Rudloff.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Deerbrook with Rev. Jerome Hahn officiating. Burial will take place in Neva Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
