Lizzie Mae Stokes, 81, of Laurel, passed away on April 9, 2018 in Laurel.
Funeral services will be held at Myrick Assembly of God on Friday, April 13, 2018. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and the service at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Strengthford Cemetery. Bro. Bryan Beech will officiate.
Prior to retirement, she was employed with Comfort Care Nursing Home as a nurse's aide. She will be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Survivors include two sons, Tim Stokes (Brenda) and Joey Stokes (Janet); daughter, Darlene Dean (Johnny); brother, Edward Newcomb; grandchildren, Kayla Pitts, Kimberly Carlisle, Keri Dean, Sabrina Malone (Steve), Austin Stokes, Chase Cochran, Brock Cochran, and Summer Randolph; and eight great grandchildren, Noah Randolph, Ian Randolph, Justin Stokes, Eli Pitts, Payson Pitts, Sutton Pitts, Jayden Carlisle, and Gabriel Carlisle.
Pallbearers will be Austin Stokes, Justin Stokes, William Carlisle, Brock Cochran, Steve Malone, and Keri Dean. Honorary pallbearer will be Chase Cochran.

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be; so He put His arms around you, and whispered, "Come to Me". With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away; although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
