James Edward Duncan
July 27, 1948 - April 10, 2018

James Edward Duncan, age 69 of Estill Springs, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Franklin County on July 27, 1948 to the late Willie Wendell and Lucille (Ray) Duncan. A very patriotic man, he joined the United States Army on his eighteenth birthday, serving during the Vietnam War. During his time in service, James earned several medals including a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He retired from the Winchester Post Office where he had been employed as a mail carrier. James was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Before his illness, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and he was a lover of all animals. James will be remembered as a kind and loving man who would give anyone the shirt off his back, and for his love of country. He loved spending time with his family, especially his two great-grandsons whom he referred to as his "Buddies." In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Jean Anderton. James is survived by his loving wife of thirty-one years, Janyce Duncan of Estill Springs; children, Portia Duncan of Estill Springs, James Kevin Duncan of Estill Springs, Kathy (Gary) Hice of Tullahoma, and Curtis (Karrie) Tucker of Winchester; grandchildren, T.J. Hice, Casey Tucker, and Janna (Kelly) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Payton Holliday, Jax Anderson; sisters, Doris Tankersley of Tullahoma, and Glynda (Wayne) Hopkins of Estill Springs; brother, Ray Duncan of Estill Springs; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 13, 2018 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev.
