James Kenneth Oliver, Sr., 85, of Keokuk, passed away on April 11, 2018, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.
James was born on May 4, 1932 in Richview, IL, the son of William and Maude Ferguson Oliver. He was united in marriage on October 6, 1951 to Marilyn June West in Keokuk, IA. She preceded him in death on October 28, 1997. He lived most of his life in Keokuk area. James worked for the United States Government; he retired from the Coast Guard after twenty six years. Jim was an avid race car fan. He raced for many years, and most recently loved to watch his sons and grandsons race. He enjoyed swap meets and working on cars.
James is survived by his two sons: James Kenneth (Cindy) Oliver of Danville, IA and John William (Brenda) Oliver of West Burlington, IA; one brother Garvin Lee Oliver of Alexandria, VA; twenty-nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marilyn, one daughter Diana Oliver, three sisters and five brothers.
A Celebration of his Life will be at 1:00 PM Monday, April 16, 2018 at 917 Blondeau Street at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center in Keokuk with Rev. Jason Mott officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites at Keokuk National Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday, April 15, 2018 evening where the family will meet with friends and family from 5pm to 7pm at 917 Blondeau Street at DeJong - Greaves Celebration of Life Center.
Memorials may be made to Lee County Raceway Donnellson, Iowa.
