Ella Marie Thornburg

Ella Marie Thornburg, 93, of Heidelberg passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Windham House in Hattiesburg, MS.
She was born February 6, 1925 in Mangham, LA to the late John and Annie Rainbolt. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Frank Thornburg and brothers John Rainbolt and Russell Rainbolt.
She was lovingly called "Momsey" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Heidelberg Baptist Church for many years before moving to Oak Grove. She was the librarian in Heidelberg for several years and was the Postmaster at Vossburg Post Office until she retired. After retirement she and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping with family and friends in many places across the United States.
Ella Marie is survived by two children Sherry Herrington (Lewis) of Purvis, MS and Billy Thornburg (Wanda) of Vossburg, MS; grandchildren Lew Herrington (Cyndy) of Grandview, TX, Tina Hughes (Jeff) of Hattiesburg, MS, Toni Cook (Shane) of Lauderdale, MS, Wendy Walters (Kevin) of Starkville, MS, and Kathy Rayborn (David) of Hattiesburg, MS; and 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Becky Dillard of New Rhodes, LA, Annie Tiffee of Monterey, LA, and Ginger Lindsey of Monroe, LA; a brother, Terry Rainbolt of Rayville, LA, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Heidelberg Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at the church beginning at 2:30 p.m. with Brother Bill Boulton and Brother Greg Forbes officiating. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery in Heidelberg.
Pallbearers will be Lew Herrington, Jeff Hughes, Shane Cook, Kevin Walters, David Rayborn, and Gavin Herrington. Honorary pallbearer will be Jackson Walters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heidelberg Baptist Church or Philadelphia Methodist Church Cemetery.
