Madison - Robert Daniel Baxter, age 72 passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Belmont Nursing Home. He was born on August 25, 1945 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, the son of Elden and Julia (Harris) Baxter.
He was united in marriage to Judy Baxter on April 9, 1977 in Long Beach, California. Robert proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a head medic on the USS Forrestal Ship. After 45 years, Robert retired from the United States Post Office. In his spare time, he thoroughly enjoyed hiking and dining out with his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his twin brother; Roger Baxter and younger brother; John Baxter, wife Judy Baxter, son Paul (Erica) Baxter and three daughters; Tammy Baxter, Christine (Michael) Harris and Sarah (Cody) Frank and 11 grandchildren; Alexis, Evelyn, Christian, Matthew, Raydon, Kaydence, Vanessa, Brian, Draven, Carter, Braxton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elden and Julia Baxter and brother Larry Baxter.
A private celebration of life gathering was held. Robert is laid to rest with full military honors at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, Wisconsin.
