ALEDO - James Lawerance Summerhill, 89, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018, while working out on his farm in Godley, Texas.

James was born April 27, 1928, in Hillsboro, Texas. James was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. In the early 1950's he enjoyed building churches across Texas. He served as a deacon for many years. He had 25 years of service at LTV/Vought Aerospace. He was a devoted Christian and loved his family and his church family at First Baptist Church of White Settlement, Texas. James served in the U.S. Navy during the last few years of World War II and served in the Korean War.
Survivors: Wife, Greta Verne Hadley Summerhill of 65 years; sons, Jimmy Summerhill and wife, Nola, Jerry Summerhill and wife, April, and Johnny Summerhill and wife, Stacy; daughter, Jeana Summerhill Stallons and husband, Kirk; grandchildren, Terry Summerhill, Shawn Summerhill and Aaron Summerhill, Jennifer Summerhill Carter, Tammy Summerhill Jernigan, Brianna Summerhill Ahern, Jennifer Brush, Chelsea Kasten, Kyle Stallons and Klint Stallons, Austin Summerhill, Zachary Summerhill, Sarah Summerhill; and numerous great-grandchildren.
