"Well, here I sit reading Dick's obituary. We have a long history with each other. There are so many memories running through my mind. Of course I remember him in school but I remember him best as a very young married man and then through the years. Gary and I were Dick and Jo's attendants when they got married 56 years ago this month. We were all so young then. They were so loving towards each other. Our kids grew up together. I remember the heartbreak when their first baby Richard Lynn Jr. died right after birth. They went on to have 4 more kids whom they loved very much. For years we were neighbors as well as friends. What a great time that was! So fun. Dick was always so friendly and welcoming. The last time I visited with him was last fall. I could see that he was in ill health but he still made me feel welcome.. He clapped me on the shoulder and I felt the love. That was just Dick's way. I remember him telling me years ago that there wouldn't be Dick without a Joan. He just loves her so very much. I believe that he will still watch over her as well as his kids. A love like that won't die. So many people love him. I love him. I called my sons right away when I heard that Dick had passed. They were sad. He and his family are part of their history too. God bless Dick, Jo, Kelley, Shawn, Robbie, Shannon and their families. And Dick, 'till we meet again! My family and I will never forget you. Love always, my friend. Cheryl Haman"

"He was like my other dad! There are so many great memories, it is hard to pin one down. I think I would have to say when Shannon and I were kids .... A couple of my fondest memories are the hairbrush karaoke we all use to do all the time and also watching He and Joan dancing together in the dining room. He has always loved her so! I will miss him very much. Miss you dad#2 -Dana "
