ST. CHARLES, MN - Curtis R. McCready, 88, of St. Charles, MN died on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at his home in rural St. Charles.

Curtis was born on July 26, 1929, in Rochester, MN to Robert and Matie (Putzier) McCready. He was raised in the Quincy and Dover, MN areas where he attended school. Curtis was a 1947 graduate of St. Charles High School. He worked with his father on the family farm for 10 years. On June 7, 1957, Curtis was united in marriage with Audrey Martin in St. Louis Park, MN. Throughout his career, Curtis farmed on the family farm in rural St. Charles and also worked for UBC and North Star Foods in St. Charles for many years. Curtis enjoyed organic gardening, baking cookies, reading, woodworking and carpentry. He was an active member of the St. Charles Bible Church. He also volunteered for Meals On Wheels.

He is survived by three daughters: Dawn (Alan) Pilcher of Valley Center, KS; Bonnie (Nick) Prudoehl of St. Charles, MN; and Darla (Duane Jr.) Dunavan of Terra Bella, CA; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, with two on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Audrey in 2015.

There will be a funeral service for Curtis at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, at the St. Charles Bible Church with the Reverend Jim Barnhart officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

The family prefers memorials directed to the Gideons or to the Seasons Hospice.
