Gerald "Jerry" D. Buss
October 4, 1944 - May 4, 2018

Gerald "Jerry" D. Buss, 73, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. He was born on October 4, 1944, in Sheffield, to Melvin and Leona (Lindloff) Buss.

Jerry attended Sheffield schools and graduated in 1963. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy serving in Vietnam and retired in 1986. Jerry was united in marriage to Sheryl Kiroff on July 22, 1967, in Mason City.

Jerry is survived by his wife of fifty years, Sherri Buss of Hampton, son Scott Buss of Hampton, daughter Elizabeth and husband Joe Soderberg of Hampton, brother Jim Buss of Staunton, Virginia, sisters Diane (Jerry) Nuehring of Sheffield, Vickie (Jim) Rooney of Sheffield, and Cindy (Keith Koenen) Rollings of Sheffield, grandchildren Jonathon Buss, Skyler Buss, Hunter Buss, Rachel, Dylan, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Aiden and Brooklyn Soderberg, and Carlie Tucksen, great-granddaughter Winry Tucksen, nieces Kimberly, Kristi, Karol, Chelsea and Crystal and nephews Pat, Mike, Greg, Nick, Ryan, Jimmy, Jason, Darwin and Shane.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leona and Melvin, brother David, his maternal and paternal grandparents, along with many aunts and uncles.

Jerry was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hampton. He enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, fishing, camping, and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Dallas Cowboys on television. Jerry loved attending his grandchildren's sports and school activities.

Jerry will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends, the part he had in all our lives will continue to guide and strengthen all of us forever.
