In loving memory of

James C. Weir Jr.
July 18, 1944 - May 6, 2018

James gave his life to Christ on the 14th of March at 12:10 p.m. He was not able to become a member of a church body or be baptized but surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and was at peace.

His father and mother James Charles Weir, Sr., Addie Mae Williams Weir, sister Aletha Black Herring, nephew Donnie Carpenter and niece Kristina Carpenter preceded him in death.

James (Sonny) was an avid golf player and tennis player. He coached youth at various venues and challenged everyone he faced!

We remember that he liked fast cars- especially his yellow Corvette. His sisters were reminiscing about how we would beg him to let us ride with him, and he would take us as far as West 38th Street, very fast and we begged him to let us out.

When Sonny was born, he was the only boy in the family of three older sisters who he teased regularly, chasing them with worms and beheading dolls to pay them back for teasing him. We know he was ecstatic when two brothers completed our family. A nephew, Harold Bell , Jr., came to live with the family shortly.

Sonny is survived by his sisters: Altheria Madry (Wendell-deceased), Carole Toler (James); Neriss Hunt (Charles); Diana Elizabeth Weir; Walter Weir; Richard Weir (Angela); Goddaughter: Destinee Jordan (Lavall); friends of 41 years Richard Hailey (Marybeth), Cleve Brown (Sue) and Mike Milan and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
