Alan Z. Applebee, 63, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018, at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Soldier's Grove, Wisconsin. A Natural Journey Farewell with cremation has taken place. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Alan Zane Applebee was born on January 3, 1955 in Richland Center, Wisconsin to Royden Morris Sr. and Edith Irene (Strahl) Applebee. He grew up in Wisconsin and was a graduate of North Crawford High School in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin.

Alan had worked for O'Reilly Auto Parts and most recently for Baron Auto Parts, both in Maquoketa. He had also been a bartender at the Maquoketa Country Club for several years and delivered pizzas for Happy Joes.

Alan enjoyed being outdoors doing anything such as hunting, fishing and mushrooming. He also enjoyed his El Camino car. Through the years he had lived in Wisconsin, Florida, and for the past 20 years in Maquoketa.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Lucas Applebee of Soldiers Grove, WI, Jennifer Applebee of Gays Mills, WI, Alan Applebee of Maquoketa, IA, and Aaron Applebee of Muscatine, IA; 4 grandchildren, Cam'ron, Denisis and Luca Applebee, and Barney Conner; brothers DaLee (Phyllis) Applebee of Evansville, WI, and Stanley Applebee of Viroqua, WI; sisters, Charlotte Applebee of Janesville, WI, Diana (Tod) Christianson of Soldiers Grove, WI, and Mary Applebee of Janesville, WI; and his former girlfriend, Shirley Risden of Maquoketa, IA, and her children, Valerie (Craig) Williams of Maquoketa, IA, Jessica (Lonnie) Howell of Bernard, IA, CJ (Carrie) Risden of Maquoketa, IA, and Elijah, Cameron, Jaden and Jacob Risden. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Harlean Miller, and brothers Paul, Royden Jr., James and Charles.
