James Vajgrt, 82, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the Bayfront Health Punta Gorda in Punta Gorda, FL. Private family services will be held. Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown, IA, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.

James Vajgrt was born June 3, 1935, on the family farm northeast of Clemons, IA, to Benjamin and Blanche Vajgrt. He was the youngest of 15 children. James attended the Liberty School for one and a half years and when his family moved, he finished his education in State Center, IA. He graduated in 1953 and participated in baseball, basketball, and choir. Shortly after graduating from high school, James enlisted in the United States Army. He spent two years in northern Japan and was honorably discharged in 1957. James was united in marriage to Verdel Dowden in November of 1957. To this union, three children were born. James owned several businesses throughout his lifetime. He opened Home Rental Center in 1985. Shortly after, he opened V & V Mini Storage. Later, James married Jackie E. Bauer. James and Jackie spent their winters in Florida where they owned and operated E-Z Mini Storage. James loved to garden, fish, and watch his grandchildren's sporting events.

James is survived by his wife, Jackie; children Terri (Jim) Vajgrt-Pothast, David (Lisa) Vajgrt, and Roger (Laura) Vajgrt; stepdaughter Fabienne (Craig) Childs; his only living sibling, Irene Ballard; and five grandchildren, Anna, Adam, Noah, Sarah, and Haley.
