Thomas Duane "Dude" Madson
Thomas Duane "Dude" Madson, age 86, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Sebring, Fla. He was born on June 7, 1931, in Emmons, Minn. Dude, a US Army veteran, served in Korea and was wounded in action. Dude's career included owning small businesses and working as a realtor and real estate broker. Dude and his wife Henrietta ("Hank") were winter residents in Florida for more than 20 years, spending summers in Rochester, Minn., and Lake City, Minn. Dude enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He also enjoyed flying and held a private pilot's license for many years. Dude could fix almost anything and had a natural aptitude for anything mechanical. Most of all, Dude loved spending time with his wife of 61 years. Survivors include Henrietta "Hank" Madson, wife, of Sebring, Fl.; Dawn Bernatz (Mike), daughter, of Wausau, Wis.; Kelly Madson (Kristi), son, of Rochester, Minn.; Tammy Holtorf (Dave), daughter, of Cannon Falls, Minn.; four brothers and their spouses; and seven grandchildren and their families. He was preceded in death by parents Clarence Madson and Eva Madson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester, with Pastor Ken Thoreson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, P.O. Box 867, Menomonee Falls, WI 53052.
