Carol L. Shadel
February 26, 1933 - May 8, 2018

Carol L. Shadel, 85, of Laureldale, passed away Tuesday, May 8th in her residence.

Carol was the loving wife of Richard F. Shadel. Carol and Richard would have celebrated sixty five years of marriage on July 10th.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late William Bechtel and Bessie (Angstadt) Bechtel.

Carol was a faithful and lifelong member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ in Tuckerton where she taught adult Sunday school and was a member of the small craft group.

Carol was a gifted crafter and especially excelled at beading. She made beautiful Christmas ornaments and jewelry.

Carol was a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at the former Caum Memorial Home as a Registered Nurse.

Carol was also employed at Wedding Belle Bridal Shop in Laureldale for many years.

Carol was a certified dog groomer operating a dog grooming business in her residence.

Additional survivors include three loving children, Lisa Greth, wife of Lemuel Greth, IV, of Northampton, Robert Shadel, husband of Sandra Shadel of Wernersville, and Mariann Platt, wife of Joseph Platt of Gwynn Oak, MD.

There are six grandchildren, Bradon Greth, Breanna Alba, Nicholas and Christopher Shadel, and Katherine and William Platt.

Also, five great grandchildren, Bella Alba, and Cayli, Taylor, Brody, and Jameson Shadel. Carol is expecting another great grandchild very soon.

There is a nephew, Barry Bechtel and a niece Patricia Noll.

She is predeceased by a brother, Ernest Bechtel.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 15th at 11 am in Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, 170 Tuckerton Rd., Reading, PA 19605 with Reverend Janet Boyd and Reverend Merrill Marisseau officiating.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of service in the church.

Interment will follow the service in Good Shepherd Cemetery.
