William Weitz
March 7, 1927 - May 9, 2018

William D. "Bill" Weitz, 91, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away May 9, 2018. Bill was born March 7, 1927 in Utica, NY. He and his family lived in Albany, NY and enjoyed a wonderful cottage in Speculator, NY. (The high point of every summer was his water ski trip around the lake with cigar and martini-never a drop was spilled!), Westport ,CT, and Dallas, TX before moving to Punta Gorda in 1984. He served in the Navy during WWII and graduated from Siena College in 1950. Bill retired from Mobil Oil Corp. in 1984 as Industry Manager of Construction and Mining. He then volunteered and was later employed by Charlotte Regional Medical Center in the Emergency Department. Always the people person, he loved his later job manning the gatehouse greeting everyone at Seminole Lakes. He belonged to the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Isles Yacht Club, St. Andrews South Golf Club, American Legion, Elks, and Seminole Lakes Country Club, where they lived for many happy years before relocating to South Port Square in Port Charlotte.
Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 67 years, Carol Baxter Weitz, daughter Janice (Peter) Kent of San Francisco, CA, sons David (Joanne) of Ballston Spa, NY, and Robert of Westport, CT, his beloved grandchildren, Abby (Blake) Teachey, Ryan (Andrea) Kent, and Trevor Kent, and his cherished great-grandson, Clifford Kent, as well as 2 great-grandchildren expected in the fall.
A memorial service and witness to the Resurrection will be held at the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, as well as at the Albany Rural Cemetery, both at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 11330 Burnt Store Rd., Punta Gorda, FL 33955.
