In loving memory of

Cheryl A. Clark Way
May 3, 1946 - May 12, 2018

WESLACO - Cheryl Ann Clark-Way, 70, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX, with her dear friend, Lauel Chattick at her side. Ironically, she passed exactly six years after her late husband and one true love, Don.

Cheryl was born on May 3rd, 1948 in Alton, Illinois to Cletis Glenn Clark and Anna Vera (Wright) Clark. She spent most of her childhood in Roxana, Illinois. Cheryl was raised with her two older brothers, Randy and Larry, and she learned to keep up at a young age. The effort served her well, and she became a great softball player. Her team, the Alton Lakers, won the State Championship Title and were ranked second in the world that year, Cheryl was also a devoted, die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan her entire life.

Cheryl went to work for the US Post Office as an adult, which is where she met her husband, Don Way, who was working as a Postmaster. They were married in 1986 and with Don's encouragement and support, Cheryl, too, became a US Postmaster, where she spent the remainder of her career.

Cheryl and Don were able to retire in 2003 and began spending winters in Weslaco, Texas, at Trails End Park. They enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their motor home. They spent a lot of time camping and fishing, which they both loved dearly. Cheryl was an ideal partner and enjoyed the outdoors as much as Don did. Both were workers willing to drop whatever they were doing and come assist their loved ones with whatever jobs needed to be completed.

Cheryl will always be remembered for her generous, selfless nature. She did not have children of her own, but she treated her nieces and nephews like her own, never asking for anything in return. She was the most loving and kind aunt the kids could have.

Above all, Cheryl was a true Child of God. She was a faithful member of The First Christian Church in Wood River, Illinois. Knowing that she was a believer, brings her loved ones the greatest joy and comfort.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Cletis and Anna Clark, her husband, Don Way, and her nephew Michael Clark.

She is survived by her brothers, Randy R. Clark and his wife, Virginia, and Larry Clark, both of Roxana, Illinois, step-children, Don Jr. and Larry Way, two step-grandchildren, numerous nephews, and nieces.
A memorial service in Cheryl's honor will be held Monday, June 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Wood River, IL, 160 E. Lorena Ave., Wood River, IL.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given at the church to Rett Rettsyndrome.org or First Christian Church of Wood River (FCCWR) or mailed to Rett Syndrome.org, 4600 Devitt Drive, Cincinnati, OH. 45206.
